Letter to the Editor – March 16, 2012

Dear Editor,

In February, the Arbuckle United Methodist Church held their annual chicken/ham dinner. The event takes place in the fire house in Arbuckle which means there is a lot of help needed during the dinner and cleanup following. Those in charge of the dinner turned to Pierce High School thinking some of the students could help with the dinner which would earn them community service hours.

There were five young men who appeared the night of the dinner who poured coffee and water and cleared the many tables during the serving hours. Following the dinner there is always so much clean up to be done and these high school students took apart tables and stored them along with the many chairs.

Those students were ANDY CORONA, PRESTON SNITH, MAGO MEZA, JOSE GARCIA and ANDREW DIAZ. Not only were they excellent workers but we discovered they did not need any more community service hours but did all that work just to be helpful.

The reason for writing this letter to the editor is because we wanted to say THANK YOU to those young men and to let the community know how much we appreciated the fine work of these students.
