Community Briefs: August 17, 2012

Life begins with Breastfeeding.
Breastfeeding helps babies get a good head start in life because breast milk is the perfect nutrition for baby’s growth and development.  Breastfeeding moms recover faster from labor and delivery and are less likely to develop diabetes.  New mothers can successfully breastfeed with the loving support of family, community and healthcare providers.  Colusa County’s Women Infants and Children (WIC) Breastfeeding Peer Counseling Program offers information, support and resources to breastfeeding moms.  Colusa County Public Health and WIC invite breastfeeding moms, pregnant women, dads and family to celebrate World Breastfeeding Week (August 1st thru 7th) by visiting our booth at the Farmers Market on Monday, August 6th at Memorial Park in Colusa.  Call Colusa Public Health at 1-800-655-3110 for further information.  Hope to see you there!
