The Community of Colusa mourns the loss of 14-year-old boy

The Community of Colusa remains in shock this evening over the murder of 14-year-old Miguel Muniz.

Questions are still unanswered as police retrace the last moments of the 14-year-old, trying to determine motive and a suspect.

At approximately 10:14 P.M. a Colusa City Police officer was making her rounds when she found Muniz lying in the street, at the corner of 3rd and Sioc, with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Paramedics were dispatched and transported Muniz to Colusa Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Police have interviewed a potential witness who was found at the scene; however; investigators say the individual has been evasive and providing little information about the incident.

The incident has shaken up the entire community, impacting those who didn’t even know of the young boy – questions are being asked but not many answers are being given.

At the time of press, there is no current motive and is unknown if the incident was gang related.

Police are also investigating to determine if the victim was dropped off at the location as neighbors did not report hearing gunshots.

Anyone with information pertaining this case are urged to contact the City of Colusa Police Department at (530) 458-7777.
