A Colusa man has been arrested for kidnapping, false imprisonment, and felony assault after holding a 33-year-old woman and her three year old son, authorities report.
Just after 11:00 p.m. on New Years Eve, the victim was approached by 35-year-old Jermaine Lonell Roberts, forcing her to drive to his home on Oak Street, just outside Colusa City limits – her son in the back seat.
Once at Roberts home, he held the victim and her son for several days. When the victim tried to flee, Roberts intervened and severely beat the victim, inflicting significant injuries.
The victim was finally able to flee the house on Thursday, January 10th while the suspect was asleep where she was discovered by a passerby and drove the victim and her son to the Sheriff’s Department.
Roberts fled his home when approached by officers, but was found hiding in a nearby residence. He was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Colusa County Jail.
The victim was treated for her injuries and released from Colusa Regional Medical Center.
Police have established that the victim and Roberts once had a dating relationship that ended months earlier.
The Colusa County Sheriffs Department and the Colusa Police Department are continuing their investigation.
