‘Porta Potty’ Trailer Strikes Power Pole; Driver Flees Scene

On Monday, August 19th at approximately 3:40 P.M., a vehicle towing a trailer carrying two portable toilets was traveling westbound on Hillgate Road at an unknown speed, when the vehicle crossed over the eastbound lane onto the right shoulder and collided with a wood power pole.

The force of the impact broke the wood power pole off at the ground, causing a power outage to several customers in the area. The impact also caused severe damage to the trailer and portable toilets.

The Driver continued driving westbound on Hillgate to Cortina School Road.

A short distance later, the vehicle veered right off the roadway where it collided with a wire/steel field fence and continued through the fence and into an orchard before coming making its way back onto Cortina School Road.

The trailer with the portable toilets, was then left abandoned in the middle of the roadway, the driver fleeing the scene in an unknown direction.

Reports from witnesses stated the vehicle is possibly a maroon Ford extra cab pick-up with a primer colored hood and the driver was described as possibly being a Hispanic male.

The vehicle will have some front end damage along with damage to the left rear.

Anyone with information on this collision is asked to please contact the Williams CHP office at 530-473-2821.
