Colusa Regional Medical Center Awarded Highest National Accreditation

Submitted to the WPR

Colusa Regional Medical Center (CRMC) has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of ApprovalTM for accreditation of hospitals by demonstrating compliance with national standards for health care quality and safety. The Gold Seal accreditation award recognizes CRMC’s dedication to continuous compliance with The Joint Commission’s standards.

CRMC underwent a rigorous unannounced on-site survey in April 2011. A team of Joint Commission expert surveyors, which included a physician surveyor representing the California Institute for Medical Quality, evaluated CRMC for compliance with standards of care and safety specific to the needs of patients, including infection prevention and control, medication management, procedural safety, performance improvement, and leadership.

The Joint Commission’s hospital standards address important functions relating to the care of patients and the management of hospitals. The standards are developed in consultation with health care experts, providers, measurement experts and patients from across the nation.

The Joint Commission evaluates more than 18,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States, and is the nation’s oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in health care. It is considered the “gold standard” in accreditation.

The accreditation process is completely voluntary and CRMC is among the few small, rural hospitals in California to achieve JC accreditation. A dedicated team of CRMC health care providers meet regularly towards this notable achievement.
