Colusa Native, Kim DeVincenzi Honored as 2015 CFO of the Year

KD_2On Friday, July 17, 2015, the Pacific Legal Foundation Chief Financial Officer Kim A. DeVincenzi was honored by the Sacramento Business Journal as one of the region’s top CFOs of the Year.

DeVincenzi and 16 other chief financial officers in the Sacramento area were recognized at the Journal’s 2015 CFO of the Year Awards luncheon program at the Hyatt Regency, Sacramento.

DeVincenzi, who joined PLF in October, 1993, serves as a member of the organization’s executive team, overseeing the financial and risk management of the non-profit foundation.  Reporting to the PLF President and CEO, and serving financial committees of the PLF Board of Trustees, DeVincenzi has guided the Sacramento-based public interest legal foundation through a period of growth, including the opening of PLF’s DC Center in 2014 and the purchase of the organization’s National Headquarters at 930 G Street, which recently underwent a renovation under her supervision.

“Our entire staff and the members of PLF’s Board of Trustees congratulate Kim for this most deserving honor,” said PLF President and CEO, Robin L. Rivett.  “She has skillfully managed PLF’s financial operations and our endowment to put us on rock-solid footing to meet the foundation’s needs, well into the future.  She’s been indispensable to the overall success PLF has achieved during her tenure.”

The CFO of the Year honorees were chosen by a panel of independent judges.  Criteria for the award included performance on the job, ability to resolve challenges and create opportunities, and involvement with the community.  In announcing the region’s winners last month, the Sacramento Business Journal noted that in addition to performing their traditional financial roles, “many of these CFOs play an integral part in other aspects of their companies.  Many oversee functions such as human resources, information technology, real estate, acquisitions, and strategic planning.”

“I am honored to receive this recognition from the Sacramento Business Journal,” DeVincenzi said.  “To be included in this year’s distinguished list of area CFOs is very gratifying and humbling.

What Pacific Legal Foundation does is so important in protecting our fundamental rights, and I am glad to play a small role to advance our pro-freedom mission in the courts.”

Before joining PLF, DeVincenzi served as the human resources manager and administrator for a produce wholesale company in the Sacramento region.  She was also employed by a personnel agency, providing staffing and human resource solutions to businesses throughout northern and central California.  Her expertise in the personnel industry was gained through working for Bank of America’s Business Services Division, which provided accounting, payroll and human resource solutions to businesses throughout California.

DeVincenzi was tapped for the CFO honor for her financial management and executive leadership skills, but also for her considerable community service.  She is an active volunteer for several organizations, including Loaves & Fishes, the Sacramento SPCA, Sacramento Zoo, Fairytale Town, Stanford Home for Children, and WEAVE.  She is a member of the Association of Legal Administrators and Financial Executives International, Sacramento Chapter.

DeVincenzi grew up in the community of Colusa and is the daughter of Rita and Gar Rourke.
