Williams Abreu (1918-2015)

OBIT - W AbreuWilliam “Bill” Abreu passed away on August 10, 2015 at the age of 96.  He was born on November 18, 1918 in Colusa, the first of four children to William and Elizabeth Abreu.  Bill graduated of Colusa High School.  He served in the US Army during World War II.

He returned to Colusa after completing his military service and married Claudine Tolson on February 16, 1947.  Bill and Claudine lived in Colusa their entire lives raising their two sons Jerry and Rich.  Bill worked at the I. G. Zumwalt Company for nearly 50 years starting as a bookkeeper and rising over the years to the business manager.  Bill was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Lions Club, and the Rotary Club.  He was active in the Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church participating for several years in organizing the annual Pheasant Dinner and the other fundraising drives.

Bill enjoyed his family, especially the many summer vacation trips he and Claudine took the boys on.  He also enjoyed playing golf on Saturday afternoons with his regular golf buddies and playing with his two sons.  Bill and Claudine spent much of their retirement at their Lake Almanor home.  In recent years Bill lived in Granite Bay, CA to be near his sons and their families.

Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife Claudine in 1998, by his parents and his siblings, Dorothy, Barbara, and John.  He is survived by his son Jerry, daughter-in-law Nancy and grandson Matthew, and son Rich, daughter-in-law Lydia, grandchildren David and Nicole, and six great grandchildren, Ciana, Mateo, Nicholas, Esai, Ojani, and Eleanor.  He is also survived by nephews and niece, Mark and Greg Boyes and David and Jane Abreu.

Graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, August 19th, at the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Colusa at 1:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to the charity of your choice.
