Vivian Gonzales passed away in Chico, CA, on Sunday, August 9, 2015, with her two sons at her side. She was 84 years old. Vivian had battled a variety of illnesses, including cancer, for the past two years. She is now at rest.
Vivian was born in Williams, California, in 1930 to Ervan and Hazel Draper. Her mother died early in her life and she was raised by her father, who was a railroad man, her two brothers and especially her sister Ivy. Ivy took care of Vivian in the beginning of her life and at the end. In 1952, she married Salvador Gonzales, who was in the U.S. Navy. She traveled around the United States and to Japan with him at his duty stations. They had two sons, Peter and Mike. After Salvador retired, she made a career in banking with Bank of America and retired as an Operations Manager.
Vivian was preceded in death by her mother and her father, brothers Wayne and Donald, her husband Salvador and her granddaughter Suzanne. She is survived by her sister Ivy, her sons Peter (Mary D.) and Mike (Mary R.), her granddaughters Jennifer, Erin and Megan and her soon to be born great granddaughter from Jennifer. She will also be greatly missed by her little dog Cassie.
At her request, no services are scheduled, but a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to AFSP Out of the Darkness or to a cancer charity of your choice.
We love you and will miss you Mom.
