Veterans Day Ceremonies

Patriotic ceremonies and events honoring America’s military members and Veterans is Scheduled for Wednesday November 11, 2015.

Starting at 9:00 AM, the Colusa VFW Post 2441 and the Maxwell American Legion Post No. 218 will host a Veterans Day Morning Ceremony at the Arbuckle Golf Club (5918 Hillgate Road, Arbuckle)

Following the morning ceremony, the 20th annual H.L. Peterson Memorial Golf Tournament will begin at 10:00 AM.

The tournament is a 4-man scramble format.

The cost is $80 for Arbuckle Golf Club Members, $90 for Non-Members. The fee includes 18 holes of golf, cart rental, beverages on the course, and a prime rib dinner at the completion of the tournament. Hole sponsors are also available. A raffle and other prizes will be available.

At 1:00 PM, the Colusa VFW Post 2441 and the Maxwell American Legion Post No. 218 will host its annual Veterans Day Ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park (10th and Market Street, Colusa).

Over 250 individuals will be honored into the wall, along with the 400 names of the counties honorable service men and women currently placed.

Former Colusa County Superior Court Judge, John H. Tiernan will be the guest speaker.

The Colusa County Veterans Memorial Wall was constructed in 2014, completing the two-year project.

The Veterans have been busy adding ten new park benches, and constructing an entry archway at the North East Corner will also will be dedicated.

A Tribute Brick is available to all veterans, living or deceased, who have served honorably or are currently serving in any branch of the military at any time. The Veteran must have lived in, or currently living in Colusa County. The cost of a Tribute Brick is $100.

Proceeds from the brick sales will go towards the construction and the future maintenance of the Memorial and Tribute Walls.
