Drowsy Driver Causes Solo Collision

A Colusa man suffers minor injuries after falling asleep at the wheel on Maxwell-Colusa Road.

27-year-old, Marcus Gordon, of Colusa, California was driving westbound on Maxwell-Colusa Road, east of Lyons Road, in a 2000 Mitsubishi.

The California Highway Patrol reported that Gordon was traveling at an approximate speed of 55-60 MPH when he momentary fell asleep behind the wheel and made a left hand turning moment causing his vehicle to leave the roadway into a ditch.

Gordon’s vehicle came to rest with its front and undercarriage lodged into the ditch.

Gordon sustained moderate injuries as a result of the traffic collision and was transported to Colusa Regional Medical Center.

The California Highway Patrol said that the driver’s use of his seatbelt prevented him from sustaining more serious injuries as a result of the collision.
