New Year’s Day Breakfast

Grand Island Firefighters will be hosting its 17th annual breakfast on New Year’s morning.

The popular event has become a venue for many to celebrate the new year, all while helping the Grand Island Fire Department’s community outreach projects.

At 8:00 AM, the Grand Island Firefighters and volunteers will serve pancakes, biscuits and gravy, hash browns, bacon, sausage links and patties, fruit salad, and eggs. The breakfast also includes a burrito station along with coffee and assorted juices.

With no cost to enjoy the feast, donations are highly recommended to help the fundraising goal.

“All money raised helps fund our local scholarship program or community projects,” said Lt. Lance Swift, “our yearly scholarship is awarded to a deserving student in the area.”

In the past, Lt. Swift commented that the event has helped provide computers for Grand Island Elementary, the purchase of play equipment for the after-school program, and support for the Grimes Library.

“We have sponsored numerous of FFA students to participate in different competitions and events and many more,” said Lt. Swift.

So, come on out to the Sacramento River Fire District, Grand Island Station (359 Main Street, Grimes) for a delicious breakfast and fellowship of community members on January 1, 2016.

The event will conclude at 11:30 AM.■
