Teens Arrested after Firing Airsoft Gun at Transit Vehicle

Three teens were questioned after one of them fired an airsoft gun at a Colusa County Transit bus, with a driver inside, on Tuesday, December 15, 2015, in the City of Colusa.

According to officials, while the transit driver was traveling through a Colusa neighborhood, a vehicle occupying three juveniles pulled alongside the transit vehicle and one juvenile fired several airsoft pellets at the bus.

The transit driver contacted Colusa City Police and assisted authorities in locating the vehicle and subjects.

“We were able to locate the teens quickly and after questioning we determined the responsible party,” said Colusa Chief of Police, Josh Fitch.

Fitch also commented that they were able to confirm the identities of the incident and subjects involved with the help of the surveillance cameras installed on the new fleet of transit buses successfully.

Colusa County Transit Manager, Kent Boes, commented that his office is working closely with authorities.

“The principle of the matter is that the incident could have been a lot worse,” said Boes, “should the individuals have pulled the airsoft gun on someone with a real firearm, their day could have ended differently. It’s not all fun and game.”

Boes commented that though no injuries or damage was caused by the incident he hopes a valuable lesson is to be learned by the individuals.

Due to the nature of the event, there’s no word on how many teens were in custody, or the charges filed against the juveniles.■
