Chico woman sustains minor injuries in solo-vehicle collision

A Chico woman was transported to UC Davis Medical Center with minor injuries following a crash on Interstate 5 on Christmas morning.

The collision occurred just after 8:30 AM on, Friday, December 25, 2015, as Toni Young, 36, of Chico, was driving southbound at approximately 75 MPH on Interstate 5, just north of the Hahn Road over-crossing in a 2006 Honda Element.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Young allowed her vehicle travel off the roadway loosing control of her vehicle.

Young’s vehicle continued in a southeast direction across the median and into northbound lanes where it overturned onto a metal barbed wire perimeter fence.

The California Highway Patrol commented that Young’s use of a seatbelt prevented her from sustaining more serious injuries as a result of the collision.
