How to Talk So Kids will Listen
The Family Action Centers of Colusa County will host a workshop on how to talk to children so that they will listen and to see themselves differently. The first workshop will be held on February 1, 2016 from 6:30 PM to 7:45PM at the Williams Family Action Center, 602 Twelfth Street, Williams. The second workshop will be held on February 10, 2016 from 11:00 AM to 12:15 PM at the Arbuckle Family Action Center, 812 King Street, Colusa. Child care will be provided. Almond Grower Meeting
The Colusa/Sutter/Yuba Winter Almond Grower Meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 starting at 12:30 PM at St. Bernadette’s Hall in Colusa. Topics include: weed management, canker diseases of almonds, spring and summer diseases of almonds, irrigation water analysis report, laws and regulations update, almond rootstock options, as well as the Almond Board Update and the Nickel’s Review. The meeting is to conclude at about 5:00 PM. The event is sponsored by the University of California Agricultural and Natural Resources Cooperative Extension and Farm Credit Services of Colusa-Glenn, ACA. 2.0 hours of PCA CE and 3.0 hours of CCA CE requested.
Valentine’s Day Art Activity Night
The Williams Community Center will be hosting a Valentine’s Day Themed Art Activity Night on Thursday, February 4, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The Free event will provide various craft stations for children aged 4 and older. Children must be accompanied by their parent or caregiver throughout the event. A snack will be provided. Crab & TriTip Feed Casino Night
The Pierce Pride Foundation and the Pierce High School Volleyball will host the annual Crab & Tritip Feed and Casino night on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at the CalVista Warehouse located at 475 Old Highway 99, in Arbuckle. Tickets are $55 per person which includes crab, shrimp, tri-tip, salad and bread. There will be a silent auction, dessert auction, raffle prizes, and of course the famous casino night games and dancing. Superbowl Golf Tournament
The Colusa Golf & Country Club will host a Super Bowl Golf Tournament on Sunday, February 7, 2016. Tee time is 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Entry fee is $10, Green Fees and Cart Fees not included. Format: Individual Net. Pick the winning team with point spread – if you’re wrong you’re eliminated. Pick Total Score of Game. The Colusa County Fair Foundation will host a Red & White Ball on Saturday, February 13, 2016 in the Main Exhibit Hall at the Colusa County Fairgrounds. Chicken & Ham Dinner
The Arbuckle Methodist Church will host its annual chicken and ham dinner on Sunday, February 21, 2016, at the Arbuckle Fire Department from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Cost is $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for children 4 to 12 years of age, and free for any child 3 and under.
The Legacy of Fatherhood
The 11th Annual North State Fatherhood Conference, will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2016 from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, at the Colusa County Office of Education, Education Village, 101 Marguerite Street, Williams. This FREE event will include a keynote address on the legacy of fatherhood presented by Licensed Clinical Therapist, Daniel hernandez. The event will also feature fun, and education workshops for fathers on parenting, nutrition, job skills and more. Breakfast, Lunch, T-Shirt, and door prizes included for attendees. Local Bounty Fundraiser
The Colusa County Farm Bureau will host its annual local Bounty Fundraiser featuring local commodities from local restaurants on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 6:00 PM in the Main Exhibit Hall at the Colusa County Fairgrounds. Participating restaurants include: Louis Cairo’s, Don Habanero, Juan’s Tacos, Market Street Grill, and Rocco’s Bar & Grill. The cost is $60 per person. Williams Antique Show
The Williams Antique Show presents twenty dealers offering an array of elegant antiques and collectables attractively displayed, including jewelry, furniture, country wares, linens, books, prints and memorabilia. The event will be held on March 19 and 20, 2016 starting at 10:00 AM at the Sacramento Valley Museum. Enjoy home cooked meals and pies and gratis rice and beans from local farms. The event is hosted by the Spanish/English Committee of Williams.
The Colusa Adult Canteen is a bi-monthly luncheon held every 2nd and 4th Friday of the month, from NOON to 1:30 PM. The Adult Canteen is open to all Seniors, 60 years of age or older and held at the United Methodist Church, Friendship Hall, 511 Oak Street, in Colusa. Come enjoy an event just for the seniors in our community – promoting an active lifestyle and an opportunity to socialize with friends and discuss topics over a Pot Luck style lunch with the main course being provided. The Colusa County Arts Council hosts a Ceramics Class with Peter Adams. Hosted on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month from 10 AM to 3 PM. The Colusa County Arts Council is in the process of starting a Ukulele club for anyone interested in learning chords, songs, and just have a good time jamming and singing. The Colusa Catholic Ladies Relief Society would like to thank all of those who attended the recent card party and luncheon held at St. Bernadette’s Hall in Colusa. The door prize was won by Joan Myers. Raffle prizes were won by Dolores Reckers, James Dille, Mary Lou Kittle, and Susan Stubble. High prize winner bridge was awarded to Raylene Lyss, for Pinochle was Sandra Attebury, for whist was karen Riorden. Chairmen for the event was Susan Walsh. Proceeds will be used to supply food for the needy.
