Whether you have one or one hundred roses, you still need to get out there and prune them.
On Saturday, January 30, 2016, the Colusa County UC Master Gardeners hosted a rose pruning workshop at the Williams Elementary School.
A small gathering of individuals had a hands-on opportunity to prune several rose bushes in front of the elementary school as UC Master Gardener, John Vafis provided instruction and gave valuable advice.
Vafis gave advice such as removing the oldest cane, cutting off dead branches and crossing branches, and the proper use of various hand tools.
This is one of many workshops the Colusa County UC Master Gardeners provide throughout the year. On February 23, the group will host a special ‘Fairy Garden Workshop’ at the CIP Conference Room starting at 6:00 PM. The cost is $25 per person with basic materials supplied. Fairy garden decorations sold separately or bring your own.
