 Annual Program Review Meeting

The Arbuckle Parks and Recreation District will hold its bi-annual program review meeting on Thursday, February 4, 2016, from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the APRD Office, 309 Fifth Street, Arbuckle. Story Time

On Thursday, February 4, 2016, the Colusa Library (738 Market Street, Colusa) hopes to make a splash of fun during this week’s Story Time featuring an evening of stories and ocean critters. The fun begins at 6:30 PM. (530) 458-0721.

Valentine’s Day Art Activity Night

The Williams Community Center will be hosting a Valentine’s Day Themed Art Activity Night on Thursday, February 4, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The Free event will provide various craft stations for children aged 4 and older. Children must be accompanied by their parent or caregiver throughout the event. A snack will be provided. There is NO fee for the activity or for supplies; however, if you would like to donate money, supplies, food or volunteer your time, please contact Melissa Baikie-Rick at 530-405-6150.

Genealogy Class Registration Deadline

The Sacramento Valley Museum (1491 E Street, Williams) will host a Genealogy Class on Saturday, February 20, 2016 starting at 9:45 AM. Registration deadline is Feb. 6 with a cost of $40; lunch will be provided with fee. Come learn how to begin tracing your family tree. (530) 473-2978

Crab & TriTip Feed Casino Night

The Pierce Pride Foundation and the Pierce High School Volleyball will host the annual Crab & Tritip Feed and Casino night on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at the CalVista Warehouse located at 475 Old Highway 99, in Arbuckle. Tickets are $55 per person which includes crab, shrimp, tri-tip, salad and bread. There will be a silent auction, dessert auction, raffle prizes, and of course the famous casino night games and dancing. Super Bowl Golf Tournament

The Colusa Golf & Country Club will host a Super Bowl Golf Tournament on Sunday, February 7, 2016. Tee time is 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Entry fee is $10, Green Fees and Cart Fees not included. Format: Individual Net. Pick the winning team with point spread – if you’re wrong you’re eliminated. Pick Total Score of Game. The difference between total score and your pick of total score will be added to your net golf score to become your final score. Bring an appetizer and stay to watch the big game. Sweetheart Bingo

Join the Williams Community Center association for a fun filled night of Bingo with high pay-outs, and great raffle prizes. The annual Sweetheart Bingo will be held on Monday, February 8, 2016 starting at 5:30PM at the Williams Community Center, 860 C Street, Williams. Bring your sweetheart and enjoy this special evening. Free hotdog and dessert for all. a free Hot-ball and also a free half-pack to use at a different time. Come have fun and help support your Community Center.

Maxwell Salad Bar & Card Party

Sacred Heart Sodality is hosting a Card Party and Luncheon at the Maxwell Elementary School Multi-room (146 North Street, Maxwell) on Saturday, February 13, 2016. Doors open at 11:00 AM and lunch will be served at 11:30 AM. The cost is $15. Door prizes, raffle prizes, and prizes for high scores will be awarded. Valentine’s Dinner & Dance

The Colusa County Fair Foundation will host a Red & White Ball on Saturday, February 13, 2016 in the Main Exhibit Hall at the Colusa County Fairgrounds. Come enjoy live music, dance and dinner with your sweetheart! Cost is $75 per person. Cocktails begin at 6PM and Dinner is served at 7PM. Tickets available at Messick’s Hardware, or the Colusa County Fairgrounds Office.

Babysitting Fundraiser

The First Presbyterian Church of Colusa Awana Club will host a Valentine’s Day Night Babysitting Fundraiser. Parents are welcomed to bring their children to church on Sunday, February 24, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM and help the TREK kids raise money for summer camp. The cost is $10 er child or any donation is gladly accepted.

 

Friends of the Library Annual meeting

The Friends of the Colusa County Library will host their annual meeting on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at the Colusa County Library, 738 Market Street in Colusa. Refreshments will be served starting at 6:30 PM with the business meeting to follow at 7:00 PM. Guest speaker will be Tenisha Armstrong, Associate Director of the Martin Luther King, Jr.

Hunter Education Classes

A hunter education class instructed by Michael Russow, will be held at the Colusa VFW Hall, 103 E Main Street in Colusa, on February 19, 2016 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and on February 20, from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM. All students are required to obtain a California GO ID and free Pre-registration Hunter Education Document prior to registering for California Hunter Education courses. All students must download, print, and sign a Student Consent Form. Students 17 years of age and younger must have the form signed by a parent or guardian. Chicken & Ham Dinner

The Arbuckle Methodist Church will host its annual chicken and ham dinner on Sunday, February 21, 2016, at the Arbuckle Fire Department (506 Lucas Street, Arbuckle) from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Cost is $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for children 4 to 12 years of age, and free for any child 3 and under.

The Legacy of Fatherhood

The 11th Annual North State Fatherhood Conference, will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2016 from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, at the Colusa County Office of Education, Education Village, 101 Marguerite Street, Williams. This FREE event will include a keynote address on the legacy of fatherhood presented by Licensed Clinical Therapist, Daniel hernandez. The event will also feature fun, and education workshops for fathers on parenting, nutrition, job skills and more. Breakfast, Lunch, T-Shirt, and door prizes included for attendees. Stonyford Museum Display

The Stonyford Museum is presenting a colorful and interesting display of whiskey decanters, wine bottles and beer steins for the next three months as the Special Showing display.  Dates will be February 28th, March 13th, April 10th and April 24th   Museum hours are 1:00  – 4:00 p.m.. Attn: all serious collectors.  On March 12th there will be a special fundraiser selling a large selection of “collectibles” donated to the museum for this purpose.

Local Bounty Fundraiser

The Colusa County Farm Bureau will host its annual local Bounty Fundraiser featuring local commodities from local restaurants on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 6:00 PM in the Main Exhibit Hall at the Colusa County Fairgrounds. Participating restaurants include: Louis Cairo’s, Don Habanero, Juan’s Tacos, Market Street Grill, and Rocco’s Bar & Grill. The cost is $60 per person. Silent auction will be available and don’t forget your chance to win a Pioneer 1000-5 Deluxe – raffle tickets available for $50. Sportsman Dinner

At 5:30 PM, The Williams Volunteer Firefighters will host their 28th Annual Sportsman’s Dinner on Saturday, March 5, 2016. Come enjoy a delicious Surf-n-Turf dinner and take your chance at winning some great raffle prizes. The dinner is held at the Williams Fire Department, 810 E Street in Williams. The Friends of the Colusa County Library will host their monthly meeting on Monday, March 14, 2016 at the Colusa County Library, Morse Conference Room, 738 Market Street in Colusa starting at Noon.

Williams Antique Show

The Williams Antique Show presents twenty dealers offering an array of elegant antiques and collectables attractively displayed, including jewelry, furniture, country wares, linens, books, prints and memorabilia. The event will be held on March 19 and 20, 2016 starting at 10:00 AM at the Sacramento Valley Museum Old Gym (1491 E Street, Williams). Enjoy home cooked meals and pies and gratis rice and beans from local farms. The event is hosted by the Spanish/English Committee of Williams.

Historical Quilt Exhibit

The Sacramento Valley Museum (1491 E Street, Williams) will open its Historical Quilt Exhibit on Saturday, March 19, 2016 starting at 10:00 AM, and on Sunday at 11:00 am. The cost is $5 per person and will feature a number of historical quilts dating back to the late 1800’s.

Tire Amnesty Days

During the Month of March, Colusa County Residents will be allowed no more than nine (9) tires per user to be disposed of at no charge. The FREE tire disposal is for passenger truck or car tires without rims. The event will be hosted every Saturday during the month of March at the Colusa County Road Department Yard in Williams, located at 5714 E Street. Hours are 8AM to 2PM. For a transportation exemption to carry up to 20 tires or for additional information contact the Colusa County Public Works at (530) 458-0466. The Tire Amnesty Day is sponsored by the County of Colusa and the Rural Counties’ Environmental Services Joint Powers Authority. Funded by a grant from the Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle).

May Suprise

On Saturday, May 7, 2016, various organizations from the Colusa community will host a variety of events to celebrate spring. From 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, come out to Will S. Green Park, located at 10th and Parkhill Street, in Colusa for a plant sale, artisan faire, luncheon, wine tasting, heritage preservation display and awards. Proceeds will benefit the arts, beautification and community service, and literary programs within Colusa County.

Adult Canteen

The Colusa Adult Canteen is a bi-monthly luncheon held every 2nd and 4th Friday of the month,  from NOON to 1:30 PM. The Adult Canteen is open to all Seniors, 60 years of age or older and held at the United Methodist Church, Friendship Hall, 511 Oak Street, in Colusa. Come enjoy an event just for the seniors in our community – promoting an active lifestyle and an opportunity to socialize with friends and discuss topics over a Pot Luck style lunch with the main course being provided. Ceramics Class

The Colusa County Arts Council hosts a Ceramics Class with Peter Adams. Hosted on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month from 10 AM to 3 PM. The classes are held in the CCAC Studio located at 430 Market Street Suite C. The cost is $30 per class and a one time materials fee of $7, for more information call (530) 458-2222.

Drawing Class

A two hour beginning drawing workshop will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2016 from 10AM to Noon. The class will be taught by Kim Rennick. Future dates and times will be arranged; for more information call (530) 458-2222.

Ukulele Club

Are you looking to play a unique instrument? The Colusa County Arts Council is in the process of starting a Ukulele club for anyone interested in learning chords, songs, and just have a good time jamming and singing.
