Eunice Smith Dennis passed away on March 19, 2016 at her home in Maxwell, CA at the age of 98. She was born March 7, 1918 in Gridley, California to David Lorenzo Smith and Pearl Elydia Jensen Smith.
Married to Lincoln Clark Dennis (d. 2011) in 1940, Eunice spent the next 76 years in Maxwell where she and her husband built a business and a family. She was a talented athlete and artist, an avid collector, and a world traveler. She enjoyed puzzles, Disney movies, and time spent with family.
Eunice was preceded in death by her husband, her siblings Elmer Smith, Amy Smith Hepworth, David Smith, Marjorie Smith Quist, Newell Smith, and Vernon Smith, and her daughter Joy Shifflett. She is survived by her sons, Steven and Kevin Dennis, eight grandchildren (Samantha and Adam Shifflett, Logan, Zachary, Sarah, Nan, Molly, and Kerri Dennis), and five great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, March 23rd from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the McNary-Moore Chapel 107 5th Street, Colusa. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. the next day, March 24th, at the Maxwell cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made “In honor of Eunice Dennis” to The Maxwell Library and addressed to the main branch in Colusa at 738 Market Street, c/o Stacey Costello and/or to the Maxwell Beautification Committee at P.O. Box 237, Maxwell.
