Archie Scheiber, 98, of Arbuckle passed away in the home he built on April 5th, 2016. He was born on January 30, 1918 in Chico, Ca. He moved to Arbuckle in 1946 and has been a resident since that time. He operated a dairy for many years. Upon closing the dairy, Archie worked for Hardy Harvester in College City. When the opportunity was presented, he took a job with the Colusa County Road Dept., from which he retired in 1983.
An avid outdoorsman, Archie loved hunting and fishing. He enjoyed participating in these activities with family and friends. After retiring he and his wife, May, spent time in their travel trailer at places such as Fort Bragg and East Park Reservoir. He also enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and exploring around his ranch on his ATV.
He is survived by his children Bob Scheiber of Woodland, Peggy Arens (Ron) of Arbuckle and Judy Kalfsbeek (Dave) of Williams; 3 grandchildren Janet Lompa (Tye) of Hollister, Mike Kalfsbeek (Erin) of Colusa, Kurt Arens (Mandy) of Davis; 8 great-grandchildren Chance, Addie, Holly, Cache, Blake, Luke, Sarah and Ben.
Archie was an honorable man who enjoyed the simple pleasures of family, friends and the outdoors. He touched many lives and those who knew him were better because of him. He will be greatly missed.
A celebration of his life will be held on April 15th, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the McNary-Moore Funeral Chapel on 107 5th Street, Colusa. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Archie’s name to the Arbuckle Volunteer Fire Dept. at P.O. Box 727, Arbuckle, Ca 95912 or to the charity of your choice.
