Jimmie Lee passed away on April 13, 2016 at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose, California.
The fourth of nine children, Jimmie was born on July 14, 1936 in Colusa to the late Lee Kam Kee and Gee King Yin.
A proud and lifelong Colusa resident, Jimmie grew up working at the family-operated Chung Sun Market. He graduated from Colusa High School in the Class of 1954 and later attended Sacramento City College and UC Berkeley. He served in the US Army where he was stationed at Schofield Barracks in Honolulu, Hawaii. Shortly after being honorably discharged from the US Army, he married Ellen Louie of Sacramento and returned to Colusa to manage Chung Sun Market and raise a family.
Jimmie was a world traveler who visited China on numerous occasions, Canada, Italy, Mexico, and several countries in Southeast Asia. He was honored to be a Master Mason of the Colusa Masonic Lodge, a Ben Ali Shriner, as well as a member of the Colusa Lions’ Club where he enjoyed helping out at the annual Easter egg hunts. Jimmie also liked to golf and was an avid Jeremy Lin fan. Most of all he enjoyed visiting with family and friends and doting over his grandchildren.
Jimmie is survived by his beloved wife Ellen of 53 years; children Monty (Agnes) of Hong Kong, Natalie (Neil) Chio of Las Vegas, and Lindsay (Derek) Mune of San Jose as well as seven grandchildren Jason, Alena, Noah, Nico, Aly, DJ, and Dylan; brothers Bob (Rita) and Roy; sisters Dona (John) Chung and Delia Tom; and many nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm, Friday April 22, 2016, at McNary-Moore Chapel.
A celebration of Jimmie’s life will be held on April 23, 2016, at the Colusa Presbyterian Church at 2 pm followed by burial at the Colusa Cemetery and then a reception at Chung Sun Market.
The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Colusa Presbyterian Church or the charity of your choice.
