Leslie Wayne Shuman (1941-2016)

OBIT - Wayne SchumanLeslie Wayne Shuman passed away on April 21, 2016 at his home in Oklahoma.

“Wayne” was born May 25, 1941 in Napa, California. He was raised in Colusa with his two sisters, Margie Trimble of Grimes and Coraleen “Corky” Fisher (Brian) of Barstow. He attended Colusa schools through the 8th grade when he transferred to Williams High School. After graduation he attended Chico State University studying agriculture. He then enlisted in the Air Force and served his country for four years.

Wayne had a long career in law enforcement. He served on the Williams Police Department and the Colusa County Sheriff’s Department. He took a short break from law enforcement and was self employed in a bee business for four years, but his heart was in law enforcement. He was promoted to the rank of Corporal at the Sheriff’s department in 1998. His career in public service spanned 27 years.

Wayne also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and gold mining.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Wilma (Kurtz) Shuman and Walter Wayne Shuman and his brother-in-law, Jack Trimble.

Wayne is survived by his wife, JoAnn Forney, his sons, Wayne Shuman Jr (Vanessa) of Murphy, North Carolina, Adam Shuman (Rachel) of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Juston Goodman (Jessica) of Lamoore, California and daughter, Elizabeth Hackett (Jason) of Oklahoma. He is also survived by his grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held in Oklahoma.
