Shelter Animals Gets Early Surprise from Santa Paws Event

2016 - Santa Paws 2

With just under six months to Christmas, Santa Claus sent out his helpers to provide support for local shelter animals.

The Friends of the Colusa County Animal Shelter (FOCCAS) hosted its first photo session fundraiser with the help of local photographer Elly Gutierrez.

The ‘Santa Paws’ event was held on Sunday, June 5, 2016, at the Scout Cabin in Colusa.

Pet owners were given the opportunity to get a professional photo of their pet with Santa Claus, with the whole family, and even a single picture of the animal.

“We raised $350!,” said FOCCAS Volunteer, Pam DaGrossa, “We are very happy with the support.”

DaGrossa Commented that the money raised will purchase vaccinations for approximately 70 animals.

FOCCAS currently provides all vaccines, heartworm and leukemia tests, worm treatment, and flea prevention to the shelter. It purchases kennels and carriers, collars, and harnesses. It buys puppy and kitten formula. Its volunteers transport animals for medical care and to rescue partners, as well as provide foster care.

DaGrossa commented that the group is planning another Santa Paws photo shoot for the month of November.
