Farm to Fork Dinner – Thursday

In an effort to raise awareness about Colusa’s Certified Farmers Market, a Farm to Fork dinner is scheduled for Thursday, June 23, at 6:00 PM at Veterans Memorial Park in Downtown Colusa.

“It’s going to be a great evening,” said Colusa Farmers Market Manager, Jennifer Diaz, who also serves as the coordinator of the dinner.

“We will have delicious food prepared by local restaurants featuring local products,” said Diaz.

The dinner kicks off at 6:00 PM with a short social period followed by a dinner prayer.

“Then everyone can get up and be served through the buffet lines,” said Diaz.

The menu for the evening includes a fruit display, stuffed mushrooms, roasted veggies, and a rice pilaf prepared by Rocco’s Bar and Grill; Certified Angus Prime Rib, a Vegetarian Lasagna, and a Market Harvest Blend Cold Rice dish prepared by Market Street Grill; Colusa Casino Resort will prepare a Wintun Salad; and Sweet Bean Bakery has cooked up Blueberry and Pecan Tarts. Colusa local, John Vafis, with ‘Our Daily Bread’ will be prepare his famous homemade bread for the dinner.

“All of the food prepared features something locally grown,” said Diaz.

Local wine will also be served courtesy of Steelhead Lodge and Grindstone Wines.

“For those looking for non-alcoholic drinks we will have fresh lemonade, and cucumber-basil infused water,” said Diaz.

Keeping the atmosphere light and social, entertainment will be provided by the band ‘Senior Moment’.

Diaz advises that tickets are selling fast, and it’s best to get them soon. Tickets can be obtained at $40 per person, or $75 per couple and available at the Colusa County Chamber of Commerce, Market Street Grill, Changes Salon, and Messick’s Hardware in Colusa.

The money raised will benefit local nonprofit organizations and their projects through the Premier Mushroom Grant program.

“We will match the sales of Mushroom Sales to help make the pot bigger to help benefit the local organizations,” said Diaz.
