Paint Colusa County Purple Aug. 1-5

Invited to show their support businesses are asked to participate in a week-long celebration of ‘Paint Colusa County Purple.’

The week long community event will lead up to the Colusa County Relay for Life held Saturday, August 6, 2016, at the Colusa County Fairgrounds.

“We want everyone to participate in some way and show their support,” said Colusa County Relay for Life Paint the Town Purple Organizer, Lloyd Green.

With the event just days away, Green commented that the sky is the limit when it comes to decorating your business and send the message of hope, a world with a cure for Cancer.

“You can have your staff wear purple shirts all week, sell purple themed items, or create a display of purple. There are many ideas on Pinterest and the web,” he said.

Those wishing to participate in the week-long relay prep-event ‘Paint Colusa County Purple’ are asked to decorate their businesses, or participate in some way during the week of Aug. 1-5.

“During this time we will have a friendly business competition with a judging held on August 5,” said Green.

Green added that judging would be based on overall decorations and the relay for life purple spirit.

“The traveling trophy will be presented to the winner during the Relay for Life Ceremony on Saturday, to display proudly for one year,” said Green.

Market Street Grill was the recipient of the 2015 award.

Communities of Arbuckle, Colusa, Maxwell, Williams, Grimes and Princeton are all invited to decorate their towns with the signature American Cancer Society Purple – all in good fun and awareness.

“If we have one town that goes all out, there may even be a town award,” said Green.
