On Monday, the Colusa First Christian Church awarded the Colusa Peace Officer’s Association a $250 donation, as a part of their continuing effort to support worthy local causes.

“Over the years, we have made small donations to causes we believe are worthy,” said Mary Ann Nation, a member of the Colusa First Christian Church. “Because of all the things going on with police everywhere, we thought it would be fitting to support our local police.”

In addition to the donation for the Colusa Peace Officer’s Association, the church will also be donating to the Colusa County Sheriff’s Office’s DARE program, Nation said.

Over the past few years, the church has given local donations to the Denise Roberts Fund, Colusa County Health and Human Services, Colusa Shriners, American Red Cross (for an apartment complex fire in Colusa), the Colusa Hospital (in memory of Joanne Holmes), the Local Food Basket program, a Colusa High School Scholarship, and the Colusa County Arts Council.

The church has also given similar amounts worldwide, usually through their regional office.<
