Surrounded by family, Alice Alves Carvalho, a long-time resident of Maxwell, passed away at the age of 93 on Tuesday, August 9, 2016. Services were held on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maxwell, followed by interment at the Maxwell Cemetery and a reception at Granzella’s banquet hall in Williams.
Alice was born on October 19, 1922. In 1944, she married the love of her life, Manuel Carvalho and moved to Maxwell. Alongside her husband and son, she owned and operated in what turned out to be the last dairy in Colusa County. In addition to the dairy, she farmed rice, sold Avon, but most importantly was a homemaker.
Alice loved golfing, sewing, gardening, cooking, baking, canning and spending time with her family and friends. She spent countless hours entertaining her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved every minute of it.
She is preceded in death by her husband Manuel Carvalho. She is survived by her two sons David Carvalho of Maxwell and Thomas Carvalho of Manhattan, Kansas, 7 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Memorial gifts may be made in Alice’s name to the Maxwell Fire Department and the Maxwell Cemetery Beautification Fund.
