Ronald (Joe) Eugene Kemp, born April 3, 1935, went home to be with God on Aug. 18, 2016 surrounded by his family after a hard fought battle with Parkinson’s disease.
A strong and loving father & Husband who formed the “Rock Solid Foundation” for our family, as well as being a leader in the rice farming industry. In the late 1950’s, he and his uncle, Charles Manning, had a dream and the drive to form Manning and Kemp farms. Although there were many struggles along the journey, they were very successful. At the peak of their partnership, they were farming well over three-thousand acres. The business continues today.
Joe was also an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting and fishing at an almost unheard of level. Because of his passions for family, farming and his outdoor pursuits, he made many great friends and a network of connections.
Joe was a man of conviction and of loyalty. That loyalty will live on for a very long time. At the heyday of his life, he was a strong force that compelled every aspect of our family. He will be missed more than words could ever describe.
He is survived by his loving wife Sue Kemp of over 54 years; his sons Boomer (Shawn) Kemp and Paul Kemp; his daughter Stayce Kemp and six grandchildren Matt, Kristina, Joseph, Katie, Jacob and Courtney.
He was preceded in death by his father Paul Eugene Kemp, Mother Bessie Kemp Dale and brother Donald Kemp.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 27 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Williams Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joe’s name to the Colusa County VFW Post2441 at P.O. Box 1354, Colusa, Ca 95932.
Arrangements are under the direction of McNary-Moore Funeral Service FD-410.<
