The Sutter-Yuba Association of REALTORS® Charitable Foundation recently held their annual Clothes For Kids events at Kohl’s in Yuba City.

Area Realtors were able to provide back-to-school clothing and shoes for 261 local children; 38 of those were children for Colusa County.

The Charitable organization held several fund-raising events throughout the year in order to provide for the children in need in our Sutter, Yuba & Colusa County Communities, including their Annual Realtor and Friends Golf Tournament at Peach Tree Country Club that has been held for 30 years.  The Realtors Association has been raising money for different charitable causes for many years but specifically for back to school clothes for the past 6 years starting out helping 50 – 75 children increasing the number of children being assisted every year.

This years event on Sunday, August 7th provided a hot breakfast to the families prior to the in-store shopping which started at 7am.  Volunteers were there before dawn at 5 am to get everything set up.

209 kids were partnered with a volunteer Realtor or Realtor-friend to help them select new clothes for school on Sunday.

Each child also received a new backpack filled with school supplies provided by the SYAOR Affiliate Committee.  Due to the number of children, a second event was held the evening of Tuesday, August 9th with another 52 children.   Kohl’s did a tremendous job assisting the volunteers and children.  Many of Kohl’s associates working during the event  were volunteers as well!

Holly Shackleford of Interwest Homes and Deneen Torres of RE/MAX Gold Co-chair the Clothes For Kids Committee.
