The Colusa RedHawks varsity football team bounced back from a loss to defending state champions East Nicolaus, defeating the Lindhurst Blazers 33-19 on Friday.
Colusa (2-1) rushed for total of 283 yards on 42 carries against Lindhurst (0-2), with Lucas Davison and Nan Rodriguez seeing the majority of the work.
Davison rushed 18 times for 140 yards and 2 touchdowns, while Rodriguez chipped in 114 yards and 2 touchdowns on 16 carries. Ben Rainsbarger also scored for Colusa on the ground.
Defensively, Justin Pingrey led the RedHawks with 10 tackles. The RedHawks got to Lindhurst quarterback Dru Caballero for a total of 5 sacks: two from Alec Bailey, and one each from Justin Davies, Sam Stocks, and Christian Lyss. Cabellero also threw one interception to Lucas Davison.
Lyss, a sophomore who was pulled up this week and saw his first varsity action against Lindhurst, had three total tackles from his safety position.
The RedHawks junior varsity team defeated Lindhurst 60-0.
Colusa is set to play an away game against Durham (1-1) on Friday. Durham defeated Live Oak last week 55-0, and lost to Willows on Aug. 26 by a score of 35-20. The junior varsity contest kicks off at 5:30 PM, and the varsity game will start at 7:30 PM.
