RedHawks junior varsity volleyball coach Kim Schnyder Roper led her team to a undefeated 16-0 record throughout the tournament.
JV and Varsity teams from Colusa, Williams, Princeton, Chester, Portola, Fall River, Redding Christian, and host team Los Molinos, participated in the 9th annual Beth Pilger tournament, which took place from Sept. 15-17.
“The Los Molinos tourney was exciting and important for our team. It allowed us a chance to really come together, being able to play eight matches is a great experience for us. We are a young team, but we are getting better everyday. Our coaches are amazing. We work extremely hard but the coaches make the game enjoyable for us. Our sophomores have really helped our team adjust to the speed and quickness of high school volleyball,” player Annie Lay said after the final on Saturday.
Lay, a freshman at CHS, was awarded the tournament MVP trophy, and sophomores Gillian Ayala, Jessica Hickel, and Gracie Meyers took All Tourney Trophies for the JV team.■
