The Arbuckle Parks and Recreations District will host a Youth Art Show, Wednesday, Oct. 26, from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM at the District Office, 309 5th Street in Arbuckle.
Dozens of creative works of art will be on display; the artists are those who participated in the Summer Art Camp sponsored by the Colusa County Arts Council.
Art Camp Instructor Trish Gustafson-Ayala commented that the art students learned to create various pieces of art using different media and techniques.
“We started out with colors. They learned that with the three primary colors they can create many colors – with black and white they can create all colors,” said Gustafson-Ayala.
The students also explored different techniques with perspective and horizon.
“I had them draw line on a page to create a road or river, then a horizon, and some mountains. From there, they could then use their own creativity to complete the project,” said Gustafson-Ayala. “It’s so wonderful to see how each child was creative and how differently the pieces turned out.”
In addition to the various techniques, the students were given a brief lesson on Vincent Van Gogh. ■
