Halloween is creeping upon us and with the holiday on a Monday, there’s a long weekend of ghoulish events. With options such as the Rocco’s Costume Party, the Sacramento Valley Museum Murder Mystery Dinner, Haunted House, Haunted Paintball Hayride, and the Arbuckle Car Show, each event provides an opportunity to wear lots of different costumes and some good fun.
HAUNTED PAINTBALL HAYRIDE: Zombies and other creatures have run amok at the Colusa County Fairgrounds, and here is your chance to rid our community of the outbreak. Held Oct. 28-31, starting at 7 PM to 11 PM. The cost, $15 per person.
COMMUNITY HAUNTED HOUSE: Fifteen rooms have been ghoulishly crafted by some of the most wicked minds and you have the opportunity to explore the fright fest. Held Oct. 28-31, starting at 7 PM. The cost is $5 per person and you get to cast your vote on the scariest of rooms. The winning room will receive a cash prize.
MURDER MYSTERY DINNER: This Saturday, Oct. 29, Sacramento Valley Museum has unearthed a tale of a car salesman murdered in cold blood in the 1950s. Come witness the interrogation of suspects over a delicious dinner served by Granzella’s and purchase some fantastic raffle items to support the efforts of the Museum. The cost is $60 per person or $110 per couple and can be purchased by calling (530) 473-2978. Doors open at 5 PM. Must be 21 or older to attend. Attire from the 1950s encouraged.
ROCCO’s HALLOWEEN COSTUME PARTY: This Saturday, Oct. 29, Rocco’s Bar & Grill, in Colusa, will host its annual Halloween Costume Party starting at 9 PM. Awards will be given for the best costume. A live band will provide the entertainment for the evening, and a food truck arrives at 11 PM.
ARBUCKLE CAR SHOW: Sunday, Oct. 30, the Arbuckle Revitalization Committee will celebrate its 14th annual Car Show and Train Depot Birthday. Starting at 6 AM, the Knights of Columbus Council #14112 will offer a hearty breakfast with your choice of pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, hash browns, coffee and orange juice. Cost is $10 per plate. Served until 9:30 AM. Carshow registration begins at 8 AM. Tri-tip lunch served at 11:00 AM when the Halloween Costume Parade also begins. Awards are at 2 PM.
ARBUCKLE ALMOND FUN RUN/WALK: Registration for the annual fundraiser will begin at 7:30 AM on Sunday, Oct. 30, in front of Pierce High School. The 1-mile run will begin at 8 AM and the 5K Run/Walk will begin at 8:30 AM. Registration fee is $20. Awards will be presented for the 1-Mile and 5K categories. Additional awards will be given to the top three finishers who compete in the race pushing a stroller. Halloween costumes are encouraged; prizes will be awarded for outstanding costume in the adult, children, and group category. Rain or shine.
