We are snug in North Dakota.
All went well on the flights here, except for being a bit delayed getting to Denver. The gate we landed at was numbered in the teens and our connecting gate was number 83. That meant a sprint for a couple of old folks, but we made it just under the wire.
Today was a bright sunny day, but yesterday was -20 something degrees. We stayed indoors and baked and wrapped Christmas gifts.
Today we went to church, and I saw a lot of my dear friends. Tom was welcomed and it was great to share my old home church and its people with him.
We’ve had a couple of family gatherings, another tonight.
Our first night here was wonderful. I love it when all of the chicks are in the nest. We laughed, we talked, and we ate. There were a few toddies, too.
I love to have my family all together. Tom is settling in as a part of the family and that makes it all the better.
I took Tom on a drive around town today and showed to him my former homes, our rental properties, and other points of interest. It doesn’t take long to make a tour of Beach, North Dakota, but it is a place dear to my heart, and I wanted him to see all of those places.
Tomorrow, we will spend the day with daughter Tiffany. She’s going to show us the park, the part that isn’t closed, and maybe we’ll see a few horses. Later, we will visit niece Lisa at her coffee shop (Hidden Springs) in Medora. If the road is good, we will venture out to Badlands Bible Camp so Tom can see where we will have our wedding this coming May.
It’s exciting to share all of these things with him.
I feel blessed to have the opportunity to visit here, to have Christmas with my family, and to share the place that I called home for so many years.
So far, the cold weather hasn’t bothered Tom. He’s dealing well. He even thanked me for bringing him here once he saw his first morning with the sunlight glistening off of the snow. God’s beauty for sure.
Life is good today.
