Burchfield Primary School first-graders showed their patriotism and musicality on Friday in celebration of Presidents Day.

Students dressed in red, white, and blue for their “Thank You America” performance to honor the birthdays of George Washington (Feb. 22, 1732) and Abraham Lincoln (Feb. 12, 1809).

All five first grade classes opened the concert with a joint performance of the songs “I Pledge Allegiance to the Flag” and “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

Bobbi Weiglein’s class performed “We All Live Together,” followed by Jennifer Barbee’s class singing “The United States.”

Christina Bailey’s class performed “You’re a Grand Old Flag,” followed by Jennifer Hardwick’s class singing “Yankee Doodle.”

Mallory Alves’ class performed “My Country ‘tis of Thee,” before the finale of all students singing “Thank You America,” This Land is Your Land,” and “I’m Proud to be an American.”

Burchfield’s Winter Concert was held in the Colusa High School gym while repairs to the roof are underway at the District’s Community Theater on 10th Street.

The concert was well attended by parents, family, and friends.
