Umpqua Bank gives grant to Family Action Center

Umpqua Bank, Arbuckle Store, associates Daniel Huerta and Melissa Burnett present Family Action Center directors Kim Owens and Betty Huson with their grant award.

To demonstrate Umpqua Bank’s deep commitment to the communities it serves, a $5,000 grant was awarded to the Family Action Centers of Colusa County.

“We are excited to give back to our communities,” said Melissa Burnett, Umpqua Bank Associate from the Arbuckle Branch.

Burnett said this was the first grant awarded in Colusa County.

The grant will benefit the centers with opportunities to develop a creative curriculum, provide healthy snacks to the children and families participating in the Growing Start Playgroups, provide meal planning and family budget opportunities and to provide parenting fact sheets to community members.

“We appreciate Umpqua bank for providing this opportunity to help our communities,” said Owens.

Bank associate Huerta said he was excited to give back to the community.

“Having grown up in the area, it’s nice to help out,” he said.

The Umpqua Bank Charitable Foundation was formed in 2014 to demonstrate their deep commitment to the communities it serves. The foundation provides grant opportunities for local youth development and education, and economic opportunities.
