Two receive major injuries in Highway 45 collision

Just after 7 AM on Thursday, March 2, a Yuba City man and his passenger were transported for major injuries following a single vehicle collision the California Highway Patrol said.

The driver identified as Robert Anthony Nichter, 27 of Yuba City was driving a 1998 Honda at an approximately 60 MPH. According to the CHP, reasons under investigation, Nichter allowed the Honda to travel off the west edge of the road and onto a dirt/gravel shoulder causing him to loose control of the vehicle.

The vehicle collided into decorative rocks and overturned into a tree, south of Wintun Road. The collision caused Nichter to be ejected from the vehicle. His passenger, identified as Irita Marie Latham, 34 of Marysville was seat belted in the vehicle; however was extracted by emergency personnel.

Both parties received major injuries and were transported to Enloe Medical Center.

The CHP said that the vehicle Nichter was driving had been reported as stolen.
