CHAMBER OF COMMERCE: Terry’s Smog Shop celebrates new location with Ribbon Cutting

Angie and Terry Drennan cut a ceremonial red ribbon on Thursday, as the Colusa County Chamber of
Commerce officially launches Terry’s Smog Shop, located at 318 Market St., Colusa.

Moving a business to a new location is a daunting task, but business is booming at Terry’s Smog Shop in Colusa.

After 14 years in Arbuckle, Terry Drennan is providing the same great customer service at his new location in Colusa.

“I’m here to help and serve,” Drennan said.

Terry’s Smog Shop, which opened at 318 Market St. on Jan. 2, is the newest member of the Colusa County Chamber of Commerce, who hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house on Thursday.

“This town has been so good to us,” Drennan said. “When God closes doors in some places, he opens doors somewhere else.”

Drennan said he and his wife, Angie, were nervous about the change, after having to vacate the building in Arbuckle, but it didn’t take long for his old customers and a bevy of new ones to find him.

In California, vehicles must undergo a smog inspection every two years in order for their registration to be renewed.

With Drennan’s “No pass; no pay” program, Drennan said he can put people’s minds at ease that they won’t have to pay upfront for the smog certificate if the vehicle doesn’t pass.

“If I don’t like the numbers when I do the preliminary check, then I don’t run the test,” he said. “I just tell them they need to have their vehicle looked at by a mechanic.

Drennan said people are panicked enough if their auto emissions fail to meet State’s requirements, so they don’t need the extra burden of paying up from for the test before they make the necessary repairs.

By not running the test, car owners can take their vehicle anywhere at their convenience for repair, as well as the subsequent testing, if they choose.

“It’s always about serving and doing what is best for my customers,” Drennan said.

Terry’s Smog Shop is open from 8:30 AM to 4 P.M, Monday-Friday.

You can make an appointment by calling 458-0795. Walk-ins are also welcomed.
