Last Sunday, the 2017 Miss Colusa County, Hannah Azevedo, used baking talents to help with animals displaced during the hurricanes.
“Hurricane Irma not only affected humans but pets as well,” said Azevedo, who has a deep love for animals. “I wanted to help any way I could.”
With a whisk and bowl at hand, Azevedo baked pumpkin bread and raised just over $300.
“All of the proceeds benefited the Best Friends Animal Society in Florida,” said Azevedo.
The Best Friends Animal Society is committed to rebuilding shelters and reuniting pets with their families who are affected by hurricane Irma.
“I hope this donation helps those animals in need and to encourage anyone who wants to donate,” she said.
