Alfred John Cortez of Colusa, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2017 at the age of 83. He was born in College City, CA on January 27, 1934 to Pedro and Genevieve Cortez. Alfred was known as Freddy to his seven other siblings in the Cortez Family.
He has been a lifelong resident of Colusa and graduated from Colusa High in 1948. While in high school, he participated in FFA, and also excelled in sports, such as track and field. After graduation, he entered into the United States Air force in 1952. He proudly served for four years, including being stationed in Korea during the Korean War.
On July 7, 1975, Al married the love of his life, Carolyn Martin. Al is survived by his loving wife of 42 years; 3 daughters Cynthia Reister (Edward) of Colusa, Helen Fouch (Doug) of Three Forks, MT, and Kishia Fredrick of Salem, OR; and proud grandfather to his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be missed by all.
Graveside Services will be held Thursday, November 16, at 10 AM at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Colusa, with a reception immediately after at Colusa Assembly of God Church at 1747 State Highway 20, Colusa.
