CHP seeks suspect in early Monday hit-and-run

A 37-year-old Arbuckle woman suffered significant injuries early Monday during a hit-and-run along Highway 20 in Colusa, said the California Highway Patrol.

The incident occurred at about 6 AM in the westbound lane, just east of Lonestar Road. The victim, Zulema Moreno, of Arbuckle, was stopped on the north shoulder of the highway due to a flat tire.

At that time, an unknown driver in a Chevrolet Impala failed to observe Moreno standing in the roadway and collided into Moreno. The driver of the Chevrolet Impala fled the scene of the collision westbound on Highway 20 and turned southbound on Husted Road.
Moreno was taken to Enloe Hospital by Enloe Flight Care due to her injuries. Moreno suffered a severed right leg, a broken left leg, broken arms, a skull fracture and broken ribs.

At the scene of the collision, investigators located parts belonging to the suspect vehicle.
The vehicle is described as a silver 2009 to 2016 Chevrolet Impala with a broken right side (passenger) mirror, with unknown damage to the right front and right side of the vehicle, CHP officials said.

Anyone with information about the crash or may have information leading to the identity of the runaway driver is asked to contact the Williams Area CHP office at (530) 473-2821.■
