The Colusa County Ducks wrapped up the Sporting Clays season with a strong showing at the California State Sporting Clays Championship, which was held on Monday at the Camanche Hills Hunting Preserve in Ione.
A total of five Ducks shot well enough to stand atop the podium in their respective divisions. Gus Armstrong placed first in the Rookie Division by hitting 81 of 100 targets. Cade Smith hit 43, good for third place.
Thomas Casillas missed first place by one point in the Intermediate Entry Level division by hitting 77 of his targets.
In the Intermediate Advanced division, Chase Carrere and Anthony Felix took first and second place, respectively. Carrere hit 80 of 100 targets, and Felix finished just behind him with 75.
As a team, the Ducks’ top three shooters in the Rookie, Intermediate Entry Level, and Intermediate Advanced, finished at the top of the High-Three Standings with a 238.■
