Maxwell’s Country Christmas to return on Saturday, Dec. 16

Maxwell’s County Christmas will return Saturday, Dec. 16 with a light parade beginning at 6 PM.

“We had a remarkable turn out last year. The community came together and supported this new event to the fullest,” said Maxwell Parks and Recreation President Randy Wilkins. “I am anxious to see how this event will continue to grow this year.”

Colusa County residents didn’t let the chilly temperatures keep them away in 2016, with over a hundred people watched the procession of lighted floats and tractors travel in downtown Maxwell.

This year’s judging for the light parade will have one lucky winner crowned “Best of Show.”
“Last year’s winner, Canal Farms, awed the crowd with their fully lighted rice bank-out, filled with large glowing presents,” said Samantha Wilkins.

To enter the light parade, contact Nina Rudiger (530) 438-2070 or pick up an entry form at Hydro Ag, 48 Maxwell-Colusa Rd. in Maxwell.

With the holiday season quickly approaching, Maxwell Park and Recreations’ treasurer Kyle Miller hopes to see local groups and individuals setting up in the vendor area with crafts, wreaths and other items for sale.

“Last year we had over 20 booths,” said Miller.

Street Tacos will return this year along with tri-tip sandwiches.

“Anyone wanting to sell food is required, this year, to obtain a food permit from the County Health Department,” said Miller.

The cost to reserve a vendor 15 ft. by 15 ft. space is $15. Vendors can set-up from 2 PM – 5 PM before the event. To reserve your vendor space contact Kyle Miller (530) 845-7578.
For entertainment, the Stardust Dancers and the Maxwell Band are scheduled to perform.

Santa Claus and his elf will be available for photos at the Maxwell Fire Department.

Event proceeds benefit activities of the Maxwell Parks and Recreation District.

“We hope to see everyone there,” said Miller. ■
