Life as I see it (12/20/2017)

In this life we face moments of sadness and we celebrate moments of joy. Although life is not perfect for any of us, some events and people make it seem that it is wonderful.

This weekend we gathered together the Craigo Clan for an early birthday celebration for grandson Vaughn. We had rooms at a hotel which included a great kid friendly pool just full of adventure. We went to dinner, and then had a yummy dinosaur themed birthday cake and presents. Then of course more pool time.

All of the chaos, noise and laughter couldn’t have made me happier. I looked around at each of my kids and their families and I was so proud and so pleased knowing they love each other and that they love me and Tom.

It’s a matter of respect. I believe we are given the responsibly to raise our children in a way that they become decent human beings. We all make mistakes but the best we can do is try.

I watched my son be a good dad. He shows his boys love, he makes sure they are learning good manners and how to respect other people. I saw him play in the pool with his kids and he reminded me so much of how his dad used to play with his kids.

My daughters are equally good mothers and aunties. When I see all of this it makes me feel as if along the way I may have done something right. Yesterday I commented on a kind gesture my boy had made and he said; “That’s how we were raised”. That made feel pretty good.

Now we are in Christmas week. Tom and I are both so happy to be here in North Dakota. The week ahead will be full of preparation, excitement, and more family times. In my mind and especially in my heart, it just doesn’t get better than this.

If we thought we would have a white Christmas it may not happen. So far there’s no snow, but for those of us who have lived in North Dakota, we know that could change in an instant.

I’ve learned to live my life one day at a time. There are good days and there are bad days. As for today?

Life is good today.

Merry Christmas my friends.
