Douglas (Doug) Allen Davis born May 27, 1942 in Colusa County in Colusa, passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s on December 30, 2017 in Lincoln, California.
He is preceded in death by his father Charles H. Davis in 1979, brother Larry Davis in 2003, and mother Marie Davis in 2006.
Doug lived in the community of Williams. Attended and graduated Williams High School in 1960. He was involved in FFA, football, basketball, and baseball. In his early teens, he worked as a bank-out rice truck-driver for Jim and Wanda Bowen, a Standard Oil gas station worker, and volunteered for the Williams City Fire Department.
In his early 20’s his interest grew with fixing and driving modified stock cars. He was so talented in the mechanical field and driving that he often drove with “A.J” Foyt, in Daytona, and other locations. Doug also had a love for Sprint cars and had several wins where he drove for singer Kenny Rogers.
Doug worked for California Highway Patrol in Sacramento as a mechanic and EVOC training officer 16 years, and with the California Department of Forestry and Mt. Bullion as a HEM, and Fleet Equipment Manager for total of 37 years for the state of California. He retired in 2006. We had our dream home built and moved to “Big Sky” Corvallis, Montana in 2007.
Doug’s true love was his family, friends and enjoyed the great outdoors. His heart was the state of Montana where he loved to hunt, fish, and just be in God’s country.
He is survived by his wife Susie of Lincoln, CA; sister Mary Jane Parker (Estes) of Woodland, CA; sons Scott (Trish) Davis of Fair Oaks, CA. Grandchildren Abbey, Adeline, Alexandria and Charles; Brad (Kim) Davis of Williams, CA. Grandchildren Brittany Shay, Justin, Trace; Matt (Amber) Davis of Sonora, CA. Granddaughter Rilee; Nathan Berling (step-son) of Lincoln, CA.
A celebration of Life will be held at 11 AM on January 26, at the Turkey Creek Golf Course 1525 Highway 193, Lincoln, CA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
