Dave B. Reavis (1938-2018)

Former Williams resident Dave Barry Reavis, 80, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2018 in Medford, Oregon from cancer.

Dave was born January 17, 1938 in Marysville, California to Don and Anita Reavis. He spent his childhood in the Twin Cities. He attended Yuba City Elementary and High Schools and participated sports. He also attended Yuba College before joining the United States Navy in 1958. After discharge from the Navy, Dave returned to Yuba City to marry his long time sweetheart Carol Hudson. The couple moved to Williams in 1962 and raised three children, Jeff, Mike and Lisa. Dave worked as a meat cutter for father Don, owner of Don’s Market. The couple owned and operated several businesses including Dave’s Barbershop located next door to the Town House. Dave and Carol also owned and operated Hillbilly Burgers in Maxwell and later Maggy’s Hamburger Drive-In in Williams. Dave joined the Williams Volunteer Fire Department in 1962. He remained an active member until moving to Oregon in 2002. Dave will be remembered for his “Beef is Best” cap, for his baritone voice as the announcer for the Williams Pioneer Days and most of all for his love for his grandchildren. According to his daughter Lisa, Dave was a “really great Grandpa.”

Dave is preceded in death by his parents Don and Anita Reavis and son Jeff.

He is survived by his wife Carol and daughter Lisa Allen of Medford, Oregon and a son, Mike of Chico, California. He also leaves behind his brother Ron and his wife, Kim Reavis of Sutter, California and grandchildren Andrew and Jessica Reavis, Bradley, Natalie and Kellie Allen and two great grandchildren, Cody Matney and Joey Jackson.

Dave loved the ocean and spent many wonderful memory building adventures camping and fishing with his friends and family. His cremains will be scattered at sea in a private family service.

A celebration of life memorial is being planned for early spring at Granzella’s Banquet Hall in Williams.

In lieu flowers, the family would prefer donations in Dave’s name to the Williams Fire Department.
