Officers from the Colusa Police Department were dispatched to the 100-block of Sioc Street on Sunday after an anonymous reporting party called and reported hearing a gunshot, as well witnessing as a man yelling for help and people running.

When officers arrived on scene, they discovered a victim with a gunshot wound to the hand, who was laying in the doorway of a residence. The man claimed he was the victim of a drive-by shooting, according to the Colusa Police Department.

“We interviewed the victim. What he says is he was walking westbound on Sioc, toward First Street,” said Colusa Police Sgt. Eldon Tamez. “An unknown subject in an unknown vehicle was driving by shot him in the hand. That’s all we have. Officers that responded canvassed the area. They had several witnesses that heard the shot, but that was it.”

On Monday, officers served a search warrant at a nearby house, but officials declined to say whether the warrant was related to the shooting or not.
