It’s Your Colusa County: Heather Serrano

Name: Heather Serrano

Age: 37

City of residence: Williams

Occupation: Work at Riverside Lanes

Family: Son Robert; mother Robbi; niece Callie; nephews Christopher, and Joseph; and sister Melanie.

Describe yourself in three words: Loyal, funny, and hardworking.

What kind of pets do you have? One dog.

What was your first job? I worked the Burger King drive-thru.

What do you most enjoy about your job? I love everything about my job, but I really love my customers. I love cooking for them and seeing them smile. I love the bowling alley atmosphere.

What is your dream job?  My dream job would have to be anything to do with cooking. That is why I love what I do now. I would love to work in a bigger kitchen though.

What’s something about yourself that your friends might not know? I am an open book. What you see is what you get and my friends know pretty much all there is to know.

Who do you most admire? My mom. She raised my sisters and I alone. It must have been hard, and she lost her oldest daughter at nine years ago – which had to be a nightmare for any parent. But she still works hard and takes care of her family. There is nothing she wont do for her family.

What is your favorite book or movie? My favorite movie is ‘Dirty Dancing’ and my favorite books are the ‘Clan of the Cave Bear’ series.

What’s your favorite thing to do on a rainy day? I love to binge watch on Netflix, or take a nap.

What is your favorite childhood memory? My sister and I riding our bikes all over Colusa. From the fairgrounds to the State Park. We were everywhere.

What’s something you can’t live without?  My favorite 49’ers blanket.

What do you like most about Colusa County? I love the small town feel. Everyone knows everyone and people care about one another. If a person falls, there are a dozen hands out to help them up – it’s a community.

What would you like to change about Colusa County?  I would like to see more affordable housing for one income families, or the single parents like myself.

If you could write a biography about someone local, who would it be and why?  I couldn’t choose just one person. Maybe an autobiography about myself. I don’t know how interesting of a read it would be. Where do you get your news? Williams Pioneer! and Facebook.
