Colusa Police are searching for a young, Hispanic male after he evaded officers in a pursuit through Colusa last Wednesday.
At around 10:05 PM on March 28, a Colusa Police officers attempted to conduct a traffic enforcement stop on a 2005 Nissan Maxima in the area of Harris St. and 10th St. in Colusa. The driver failed to yield to the officer, and the officer initiated a pursuit.
“When the officer tried to pull the vehicle over, it took off, going eastbound on Sioc St.,” Colusa Police Sgt. Eldon Tamez said, adding that the car blew through the stop signs on Sioc St. “The pursuit ended at the Garden Apartments, where the driver of the vehicle crashed into some bushes there. The driver bailed out of the vehicle and fled on foot.”
Tamez said that officers set up a perimeter around the area and law enforcement personnel, including the Colusa Police Department’s K9 officer, unsuccessfully attempted to find him.
“By then, there were too many people on the scene, so the scent was lost,” Tamez said.
Through their investigation, officers identified the registered owner of the car – a woman out of Rio Linda – and the case is still being investigated.
“We have the vehicle, and know who the registered owner is, but that’s as far as we’ve gotten,” Tamez said.
The Colusa Police Department is encouraging anyone with information to contact them at (530) 458-7777. ■
