Bike Rodeo this weekend

The Colusa County Bicycle Rodeo is ready to roll on Saturday, May 5, from 10 AM until 3 PM at the Williams Education Village and  Multi Purpose Building, 499 Marguerite Street, in Williams.

Children aged 5 to 12 are encouraged to attend, complete the obstacle course, and win some prizes.

“This will be a fun, family event for a range of ages,” said Ivan Rodriguez, CAPC Early Learning Instructor.

The children will learn bike safety, the importance of wearing a helmet, and getting parents involved with promoting bike safety.

“Each child that completes the bike obstacle course will receive a free helmet,” said Carissa Bowers, CAPC Coordinator.

Bowers stated that the Bike Rodeo is a partnership between the Community Advocates for Parents and Children (CAPC) Colusa County, First 5 Colusa, the Colusa Family Resource Center, the Williams Police Department, and the California Highway Patrol.

In addition to the bike rodeo, a number of vendors will be available with information and childrens’ activities. The Blue Collar Food Company will be on scene with food available for purchase.

“It’s going to be a beautiful weekend, and everyone is invited to come out and enjoy the day and promote bike safety,” said Rodriguez. ■
