For the third year in a row, Colusa County Transit Agency (CCTA) will be offering free rides throughout Colusa County starting Monday, August 27 through August 31, 2018.
“In the past, the Free Fare Day Program was offered on every Wednesday of the month, as long as funding was available,” said Transit Manager Thomas Simms. “With increased funding, we are proud to expand our offering to a Free Fare Week, including Yuba City on Fridays, on the last full week of each month.”
The Free Fare Week Project is funded by the Low Carbon Transit Operations Program to help encourage the community to use other modes of transportation, lessening the amount of cars on the road. Public transportation has a proven track record of reducing congestion on the road and in parking lots. In addition, public transportation provides mobility and freedom for people from every walk of life: freedom to commute to work, go to school, visit friends, and obtain medical care.
“Use this great opportunity to try the transit and let a professional take the wheel,” said Simms.
